Stephanie Lyness is a writer, cooking teacher, recipe developer and tester, and a former chef. She also is an Indian food expert.


She is the author and coauthor of a number of books including Second Helpings from Union Square Cafe; Cooking with Steam; Cuisine a la Vapeur with Jacques Marniere; Indian Home Cooking; The Food You Want to Eat; Le Cordon Bleu at Home; and Delicious Memories


She wrote The Food You Want to Eat with Ted Allen, who was one of the stars of the television hit, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. The first run for the book was for 60,000 copies. With Anna Boiardi, she wrote Delicious Memories about the recipes that inspired the popular brand, Chef Boyardee.


She works as a regional restaurant critic for the New York Times, covering the food scene in Connecticut and nearby neighborhoods. She also has written for Food & Wine magazine and other publications.


Stephanie lives in Connecticut.
