A few years ago, Nancy and her husband left New Mexico for Old Mexico. She now writes from her home on a beach outside Merida in the Yucatan.
Nancy Gerlach is a food and travel writer, editor, registered dietician, and businesswoman who was the founding food editor of Chile Pepper magazine and Fiery Foods & BBQ magazine.
Nancy is the author and coauthor of more than 10 cookbooks, most of which focus on hot and spicy cuisines. Among her books are the best-selling Whole Chile Pepper Book; The Foods of Santa Fe; Foods of the Maya: A Taste of the Yucatan; and The Spicy Food Lover’s Bible, which was a finalist for an IACP cookbook award. She also wrote Fiery Appetizers: Seventy Spicy Hot Hors D’Oeuvres; Barbeque Inferno: Cooking with Chile Peppers on the Grill; Habanero; Just North of the Border: A Cookbook of Southwestern Cuisines; and Too Many Chiles!: From Sowing to Savoring: More Than 75 Recipes for Preparing and Preserving your Pepper Harvest.
Nancy has written for a number of publications such as Travel & Leisure, Eating Well, and the New York Daily News.
As well as a writer and editor, Nancy has also been a recipe developer, a caterer, and the owner of a mail-order chile company.
Nancy and her husband Jeff live in Merida, Mexico.
