Hash, Cuban-Style

Versatile Picadillo can be covered with a browned crust of mashed potatoes that have been mixed with fat-free milk instead of butter, and lightly browned in the oven to become Tambor de Picadillo-Hash Drum or Pie. It may also be used as the filling for empanadas. Traditionally, picadillo is served with two fried eggs, adding another 184 calories and contributing to the 68 percent fat content of this platillo prepared in the old way. In this Latina Lite makeover, eggs are omitted.
