Haroset

My favorite part of the Passover meal is the matzo, spread with haroset and horseradish. This recipe for haroset comes from my friend Tamara, who possesses a wealth of Georgian Jewish recipes.

Ingredients

  • 1 sweet red apple, cored, peeled, and cut into pieces
  • 1 pear, cored, peeled, and cut into pieces
  • ½ cup walnut pieces
  • ½ cup blanched almonds
  • ½ cup hazelnuts, toasted and skinned
  • ½ cup raisins
  • ½ cup pitted dates
  • 1/3 cup sweet kosher wine
  • 1½ tablespoons honey

Instructions

  1. Working in batches, if necessary, mince all the ingredients in a food processor. Transfer to a bowl.
