Since olive oil congeals when it is chilled, this oil, when spread cold on bread, makes a flavorful as well as healthy alternative to butter.

  • 2 garlic bulbs
  • Olive oil


  1. Peel the garlic cloves. Place them in a 2-cup jar and fill to the top with oil. Let the oil stand a few hours or overnight at room temperature before using. As the oil is used, it can be replaced. Store unused oil in the refrigerator, but bring it to room temperature before using.
