Annato Sauce with Vegetables

A spicy sauce that imparts a delicious flavor to many Cuban and Puerto Rican chicken, pork, and fish dishes.  It takes minutes to prepare adn is wel worth the effort.

  • 2 tablespoons Achiote Oil
  • 2 tablespoons Recaito
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 4 teaspoons chopped fresh oregano or 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 slice turkey ham, finally chopped


  1. In a small skillet, heat oil over medium heat; combine ingredients; sauté lightly for 5 minutes.

  2. If you like your food spicy, add chile to taste.
