If it’s not the height of fresh fruit season or if you want to quickly concoct something that’s incredibly refreshing, fruit smoothies are the way to go. Actually, since I always have an assortment of frozen fruits in my freezer, my kids make their own smoothies, either first thing in the morning or whenever they need a quick pick-me-up.

Ingredients
- About 1 cup orange juice
- About 1 cup frozen fruit (mixed assorted berries and peaches)
- ½ cold ripe banana
- A few spoonfuls of a favorite yogurt
- Some drained silken tofu
Instructions

Whirl the orange juice and frozen fruit in a blender until smooth and thick. If too thick, thin with more juice and, if too thin, add a few more pieces of frozen fruit. For a more fortified smoothie, blend in the banana, some of your favorite yogurt, or some drained silken tofu. Serve right away.
