If it’s not the height of fresh fruit season or if you want to quickly concoct something that’s incredibly refreshing, fruit smoothies are the way to go. Actually, since I always have an assortment of frozen fruits in my freezer, my kids make their own smoothies, either first thing in the morning or whenever they need a quick pick-me-up.

  • About 1 cup orange juice

  • ½ cold ripe banana
  • A few spoonfuls of a favorite yogurt
  • Some drained silken tofu

Instructions

  1. Whirl the orange juice and frozen fruit in a blender until smooth and thick. If too thick, thin with more juice and, if too thin, add a few more pieces of frozen fruit.
