Ingredients
- 4 Idaho potatoes
- 1 quart vegetable oil
- Salt
- Deep fryer and basket
Instructions

Wash the potatoes under cold running water.

Peel off the skin and discard it.

Thinly slice the potatoes 1/8-inch thick.

Place the slices in a bowl of ice water and set aside for 30 minutes.

Drain and dry thoroughly with paper towels.

Pour the oil into a deep fryer. Heat the oil to 360°.

Place about 1 cup of the potatoes into the oil and stir lightly.

Cook until the potatoes become crisp golden brown.

Remove the potatoes and drain on paper towles.
-
Repeat with the remaining potatoes.
-
Sprinkle lightly with salt.
-
Place on a serving place and serve hot.

I have made these several times now and they are very good. The kids really like them. We have had them plain, but have also tried them with flavourings, such as bacon salt, powdered cheese, and sour cream and chive powder. They are nice hot or cold. They make a great side dish, and are much nicer than store-bought chips.
