Two Herb Blends

Just remember to keep your herb blends stored in your pantry or cupboard — not on your kitchen countertop. This easy herb recipe is one every cook needs.

You can purchase mixtures of Italian or Provencal herbs in bottles, but it’s fun and more economical to make your own. Be sure to use dried herb leaves, not ground.

  • Italian Herb Blend Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme
  • 2 teaspoons dried rosemary
  • 1½ teaspoons fennel seeds
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Herbes de Provence Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
  • 2 teaspoons dried tarragon
  • 2 teaspoons dried savory
  • 2 teaspoons dried rosemary
  • 2 teaspoons dried marjoram
  • 2 teaspoons dried chervil (optional)


  1. Combine the herbs for either blend in a small, wide-mouthed jar. Shake well. 

  2. Store in a dark, cool place for up to 6 months.

Thanks! Nice Herb blends! I just tried the Italian herb blends just after the bought all the herbs in bulk from Horton spice mills. Really amazed once after it is prepared. Really great Blend.
