Chad Carns
Did you know?
Chad talks lovingly of the culinary feast outside his front door—from the intoxicating aromas of garlic, olive oil, and seafood along Bleeker Street to the allure of the braised pork at a Korean barbecue, and the pleasure of the Rioja wine and chorizo at a nearby wine bar. ...
Chad Carns is a cookbook author and graphic designer who is influenced by the flavors and variety of cuisines available near his Greenwich Village apartment, and throughout the city and beyond.
With this in mind, Chad wrote The Gourmet Bachelor: Global Flavor, Local Ingredients.
He says he moved to New York after earning his degree in visual communications from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a plan to create the next “award-winning Super Bowl commercial.” He enjoyed working as a graphic artist but was lured away from it by a greater desire to write a cookbook. He left his first profession behind and attended the Institute of Culinary Education in Manhattan.
Because of his book and its accompanying website, Chad has been featured on Toni On! (WPIX, New York), and in Marie Claire magazine, The Villager, and Next magazine. He also gives cooking demonstrations across the country.
Chad says he grew up in a family that was passionate about food. His grandmother, he recalls, could turn an egg, a cup of flour, and a splash of water into Sunday dinner.
Chad lives in New York’s Greenwich Village in a tiny apartment above John’s Pizza, where he developed and tested all the recipes for his book. His website is http://www.thegourmetbachelor.com/
