Barbara Shinn, who comes from from Ohio, loves good country cooking. After living and working in Berkeley and San Francisco, Barbara and her husband, David Page, moved to New York and opened Home Restaurant in New York's Greenwich Village in 1993.

 

In 1998, the couple founded Shinn Estates Vineyards on the North Fork of Long Island. In 2000, they planted their first ten acres of vines, hoping someday to bring wine closer to home. She now operates a B & B at the vineyard, Shinn Estates Farmhouse.

 

In 2001, Barbara and David published their first book, Recipes from Home. Calvin Trillin wrote the foreword.
