Recipe

Chinese cooks can think of 101 uses for plum sauce and are taking advantage of the unique tart and sweet flavor to brighten up salads. This spicy and tangy vinaigrette works wonders on greens or for grilled meats.

Yield : Makes about 1¼ cups

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp plum sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 green onions, minced
  • 1 tsp minced ginger
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp Chinese five-spice powder

Directions

In a small bowl, combine all the ingredients and whisk until blended. Store in a covered container in the refrigerator; it will keep for up to 1 week. Bring to room temperature and stir before using.
